These two painters from Lake Mills, Wisconsin create work with contrasting styles, inspiration and imagery. What they do share is a passion for color, mood and personal expression. For Ragus, the elements of design are carried over from her day job as an interior designer. Each painting is a visual representation of an interior dialog based on the combination of shape, line and colors that she creates with her brushes. Using acrylic on canvas, she begins each painting with a single shape of color. After that, everything she adds is a response to what she put down before. DeMuth’s work is a direct response to the visual world. Creating realistic oil paintings, she works on site or from sketches or photos to create scenes that reflect the rural and natural beauty of the countryside where she lives.
